The Appin Sports Team

Damien is the Managing Director of Appin Sports. Damien has spent many years working for some of the UK’s largest running events so has a deep knowledge of the issues facing race directors and organisers. He’s on the race committee for the multi terrain 7R Half marathon and is race director for the ‘Rigg Race’ just outside Edinburgh. Damien is a keen runner and member of Harmeny AC. He’s most happy running the many trails around the Pentland Hills. Damien’s marathon PB is an impressive 2:40 achieved as a VET45 at Berlin 2022.

Ally oversees our sales team which means working with a wide variety of our sporting clients. He loves helping people see their ideas become reality.

Outside of work, Ally enjoys playing football (mainly 7-a-sides these days!) and travelling.

Edward has a deep love for cycling and enjoys all types of it. Most recently, he was part of an unsupported 5-man team that cycled from the Scottish borders to Nice in France, covering a challenging distance of 1600km over 2 weeks through 8 countries. This adventure was truly unforgettable for him.

Having studied as a sports scientist in Aberdeen and worked as a bike mechanic, Edward has honed his skills in all areas of cycling.

Sophie joined Appin in November 2023. She has worked in administration for 6 years, 2 years within retail and 4 within the healthcare sector. She recently adopted a shelter dog from China.

In her spare time she loves to take her dog for walks along the beach. She also loves to design and spend time using her sewing machine.

Ewan joined Appin Sports in April 2024 as Inbound Sales Executive, following a stint in media sales.

Outside of work, Ewan loves going to watch the football, and some 5-a-side. Despite a cycling-inflicted broken elbow in 2023, he still loves to get out on his bike and cycle across the bridge into Fife.

Hamish joined Appin as an Inbound Sales Executive in March 2025, following two years of experience in TV Production.

Outside of work, Hamish is a competitive runner, having represented Scotland and won both Scottish titles and a British title. He also spends his spare time trying as many specialty coffee shops as possible.

Calum Joined Appin Sports in March 2024 to carry out the role of Marketing Executive. He currently works part time while also completing a degree in Marketing/ Business Analysis and Technology at the University of Strathclyde.

In his spare time he enjoys going to watch football from the stands as his playing career was cut short he claims due to knee injuries and not because of his general lack of technical ability. He also enjoys golfing, going out with friends and travelling.

Jo has just joined Appin Sports in June 2024 and has taken on a HR/PA/Office admin role. She has worked in office/admin and support roles with people over 15yrs, so lots of experience in dealing with different situations.

She enjoys spending time with family and friends, exercise classes and crochet.
